Great news. But do you have to be a true resident of the state's CCW that they honor, or can you just have a UT or FL, and not be a resident of said state?

From the maps on handgunlaw.us it looks like they honor non-resident permits unlike Colorado or Florida

Nice to see that you found your way over here. You use to post a lot of good info on Packing.org.

Gary in your "Who Honors My Permit" section. NE has not been updated. It still shows "Nebraska does not honor any other state permits" in the "Permits that this state honors" section.
Likewise, in the "States that honor this States Permit/License" NE is still not included in the list.
The last update shows Aug. 21, 2009.
Additionally, there is no mention of this legislative NE change in the Click Here for Legislative or other important State Changes link which does not work.
for this date.

The Who Honors My Permit Section has not been updated. Steve dumped the new file by accident and I had to send it to him again this morning. It will be updated in the next 24 hours.

Re: Nebraska Will Now Honor 34 States & DC
This is great news. I own property in Omaha, and travel to there from Arkansas, which is my home state, and the state I have the CCW in. Now, my next question? I can now travel from Arkansas, thru Missouri to Nebraska. But then do I have to remove my weapon and lock it up, upon entering the city limits of Omaha?

Based upon the foregoing discussion our responses to your three questions are as follows:
1. It is our opinion that the Concealed Handgun Permit Act has preempted any local
political subdivision ordinances banning the concealed carrying of handguns within their
jurisdictions, at least to the extent that such ordinances may be deemed to apply to
permitholders under the act.
2. It is our opinion that the provision found in § 69-2441(1)(a) of the Concealed Handgun
Permit Act that prohibits even permitholders from carrying concealed handguns “into or
onto any other place or premises where handguns are prohibited by law, rule or
regulation” does not grant local political subdivisions the authority to ban the lawful
carrying of concealed handguns by permitholders.
3. It is our opinion that the provision found in § 69-2441(1)(a) of the Concealed Handgun
Permit Act that prohibits even permitholders from carrying concealed handguns “into or
onto any other place or premises where handguns are prohibited by law, rule or
regulation” means that permitholders may not carry concealed handguns in a location
“where the simple possession, let alone the carrying of a handgun, is otherwise
prohibited.”
We hope that the discussion and opinions contained herein will be of assistance to you in
deciding whether or not to introduce legislation addressing the issues you have raised and
in formulating any such proposed legislation.
Sincerely yours,
JON BRUNING
