An Encounter at Wal-Mart

...ZO6Vettever...glad you carry...Dallas had a rash of mall robberies where the woman'd sneak up on an old person and smash their hand with a hammer as they took hold of their door handle...then grab their purse and packages or wallet...vicious and brutal...pitiless...animal....

...my first wife(when I was a cop) just wouldn't believe that she needed to carry(illegally back then...no concealed permits) and the only way I could make her do it was to threaten I'd take her car keys if she left her Det. Spl. home...until the Sunday evening at dusk when she walked out of a grocery store and to the car...to find a young man standing at either front door smirking at her...she was alone...I was at home with the baby...and when she'd quit crying and shaking enough to talk, she told me about it...I asked her what she'd done...she said "I reached into my purse as if to get my keys...and pulled my gun out and looked at it..." I asked what happened then...she said that they'd quit smirking and run like hell...after that she never had need of a reminder...she was sold...

...it's the frequency that's changed in the last ten years...not occasionally but often do these things happen...in crowded places and broad daylight...with no respect for age, sex, children...those who stalk us are indeed animal in mindset more than human...posts like Dave's will help us learn to stop them....
