At first I think of NEW YORK CITY (salsa commercial) and then think only in New York can something like this happen then California comes to mind!

If you have a gang gathering on your property making threats to you and your family, why in the world would anyone not respond to defend.
Is it such an issue that there had to be more then a show of force and threats? the paper mentioned it has to be force against force.

In Washington State we have;

WPIC 16.07 Justifiable Homicide—Actual Danger Not Necessary

A person is entitled to act on appearances in defending [himself][herself][another], if that person believes in good faith and on reasonable grounds that [he][she][another] is in actual danger of great personal injury, although it afterwards might develop that the person was mistaken as to the extent of the danger.
Actual danger is not necessary for a homicide to be justifiable.
NOTE ON USE

Use this instruction with WPIC 16.02, Justifiable Homicide—Defense of Self and Others, and WPIC 16.03, Resistance to Felony, when appropriate.
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CBS 2) — He was arrested for protecting his property and family.
But it’s how the Long Island man did it that police say crossed the line.
He got a high powered AK-47 and pulled the trigger and he ended up in jail, reports CBS 2’s Pablo Guzman.
George Grier said he had to use his rifle on Sunday night to stop what he thought was going to be an invasion of his Uniondale home by a gang he thought might have been the vicious “MS-13.” He said the whole deal happened as he was about to drive his cousin home.
“I went around and went into the house, ran upstairs and told my wife to call the police. I get the gun and I go outside and I come into the doorway and now, by this time, they are in the driveway, back here near the house. I tell them, you know, ‘Can you please leave?’ Grier said.
Grier said the five men dared him to use the gun; and that their shouts brought another larger group of gang members in front of his house.
“He starts threatening my family, my life. ‘Oh you’re dead. I’m gonna kill your family and your babies. You’re dead.’ So when he says that, 20 others guys come rushing around the corner. And so I fired four warning shots into the grass,” Grier said.
Grier was later arrested. John Lewis is Grier’s attorney.
Depending on your perspective, this could be frightening.
A chart that showed past presidents and the percentage of each president’s cabinet appointees who had previously worked in the private sector – you know, a real life business, not a government job? Remember what that is? A private business?
• Roosevelt—-38%
• Taft———-40%
• Wilson——-52%
• Harding——49%
• Coolidge—–48%
• Hoover——42%
• FDR———-50%
• Truman——50%
• Eisenhower–57%
• Kennedy—–30%
• LBJ———-47%
• Nixon——- 53%
• Ford———42%
• Carter——-32%
• Reagan——56%
• GHWB——-51%
• Clinton——39%
• GWB———55%
And the Chicken Dinner Winner is…………………….
• Obama – 8%*
This is the guy who wants to tell YOU how to run YOUR life! ONLY ONE IN TWELVE in the Obama Cabinet HAS EVER HAD A JOB.

*YEP, EIGHT PERCENT!
And these are the guys holding a “job summit”; going to tell us how to run our businesses, make our decisions for us? Do you want to trust them with every aspect of your life?
These are people trained from childhood as Communist activists. Why is it that so many look away at this train wreck instead of trying to help this injured country. We need to vote in a Congress this November that can defang this administration until they’re replaced.

House Bill 571, which was introduced by Joe Uecker, 66th District Representative, and is co sponsored by 30 other representatives, would amend section 2923.126 of the Ohio Revised Code. The law would not allow private employers to prohibit a concealed carry permit holder from storing the employee's handgun in a locked motor vehicle on the employer's premises. Any current employer policy prohibiting such would have to be amended.

West Virginia and Wyoming have signed a reciprocity agreement as have Delaware and South Carolina. WV has updated their listing while WY has not. DE has updated their listing adding SC but SC has not updated their official list. WY and SC are two of the slowest states in updating their lists.
I have heard from the Connecticut DEP who oversees their State Parks and Forests. There is wording in their Admin Rules about firearms that could have many different meanings. Handgunlaw.us has to go with what those in charge state the rules mean. I talked to Sgt Tomassone and he did follow up with something in writing. Below is the email I received from the the CT DEP EnCon Police.

Gary,
Thank you for your question about handgun carry in CT State Parks and Forests.
CGS 23-4-1(c) Hunting/weapons.

Hunting or carrying of firearms, archery equipment or other weapons,
including but not limited to air rifles and slingshots, is not permitted in any
state park or forest except as authorized by the Department of Environmental
Protection. All carrying or use of weapons is subject to applicable provisions
of the Connecticut General Statutes and regulations adopted there under.
The short answer to your question is no, a CT Permit to Carry does not allow a Permit holder to carry in a State Park or Forest.

Regarding your question about the highlighted (Bold Print in this copy) sentence, this means that if a person is statutorily allowed to have a firearm in a certain Park or Forest, that person must have met all other requirements to carry such firearm. An example would be someone hunting deer where it is allowed with a shotgun could not be a convicted felon as felons are not allowed to possess firearms under CGS 53a-217.

There are some Parks and most Forests in CT where small game hunting is allowed with handguns (.22 caliber rim-fire) and a person hunting with a handgun would need a CT Permit to Carry.
I hope this answers your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to contact me again. Thanks,

Sgt. Matt Tomassone

Hello to all. Sorry it's been such a long time since I've been here, but I'm back. Over the summer, I took a two day tactical pistol class through S2 Institute down in St. Pete, FL. Here's the link. http://www.s2institute.com/. A buddy of mine and I originally signed up for the one day AF1 class, but due to a scheduling mishap on S2's end, they gave us the 2nd day, which then becomes the AF2 class, for free. The first day was of course the basics of sight picture, sight alignment, trigger reset, etc. Day two got into off hand shooting, one handed reloads, drawing and shooting from seated, multiple target engagement, retention drills, and getting back into a fight after a malfunction. The instructor, Mr. O'Rourke also discussed shooting from a vehicle as well as exiting a vehicle and engaging targets. He also talked about having a good first aid kit in your vehicle as well as a bag with extra mags and such. One thing that I thought was very interesting as well was that a knife is sometimes a better tool to use than a firearm. Overall, I thought it was a great class and was reasonably priced. I would highly recommend S2 Institute to anyone.

What interesting things do you remember from your past, while growing up, or as an adult moving through life? To answer, start your post "I'm old enough to remember----. (Just to leave some for others, perhaps a "three memory limit"?)

Here goes:

I'm old enough to remember:

Gasoline at $0.17 per gallon and there was no gas war.

Minimum wage was $0.75/hr. and living was good.

Brand new Fords were sold for less than $1,000
SEATTLE (AP) -- Seattle police responding to a call about a man who had been described as suicidal shot and wounded a 59-year-old man who leveled a rifle at them, a police official says.
When a man came out the back door of a West Seattle house late Friday night, the officers at the scene saw what appeared to be an assault rifle, Deputy Chief Nick Metz said. The man leveled the weapon at police and three officers fired, Metz said, adding he did not know how many shots were fired.
It was the fifth violent encounter of the week for police officers in the Puget Sound region.
